Firing Things First - Searching for Source and Fuel in Business Success



All these are normal questions.
There are lots of books, programs and articles on this topic but do you remember them?
Have you apply any of it consistently? Have you written down any goals, dreams, or plans and followed up on it? If not, then why haven’t you? Where is the roadblock? This article begins to help you go from mental concepts to the realm of getting consistent and tangible results.

It is easy to get confused in the oceans of theories and methods on how to succeed. However, these theories are secondary. They are simple tools and not the main force behind you. The danger is that they tend to focus your energy on a purely mental activity – it is all in your head – the “creator” - and often little is actually going through your body – the “builder”. They encourage you to find the solution to success and plan it so very well before even getting a reality check. How do you get a reality check? How do you adapt your ideas and plans to your reality? By starting and getting tangible results – a tiny momentum is OK. Then, when/how do you start? This is what this article is about.
First, we want to locate the fuel in your mind then lit the fire of action with that. We are looking: your own motivation, your divine fuel!

First: set yourself on fire!

You have probably heard about companies’ Mission or Vision statement. These are initially intended to state the driving force of the enterprise. Now: What is your Mission? Where is your fuel coming from? Why are you in business? Really, why?

Before looking for methods or great business plans, I will ask: are you passionate about what you do or are you just excited about the earnings potential? Are you proud about it? Do you talk about it at the dining table? Do your friends know you for what you do? Are you looking forward to working hard getting more business? Another question: what is it you do that that people love and appreciate?

I have had the privilege to work for companies where most employees where truly excited about what they did. They were clear about the company goals and they were solidly on board. Even more, they could not stop talking about their company and how good the products were. One of these companies is now listed on NASDAQ. It was tough but it was a blessing to be there, working like animals. Nobody around was struggling to get to work. You had to love it or you simply could not survive the action.

I advise you to only get involved with products, services that you feel that everyone should have *today*. Know well why they are great and why you are proud to be involved. Only work in environments that have the integrity to bring exciting and superior concepts for the benefit of all. Selling is so much easier that way!!! This means that you need to be honest with yourself about your motives: is it only about hoping to make lots of money? Start by aligning or adjusting yourself so sincere passion shows up! Then the hours of work do not matter so much. It is no longer a rat race, it is a success race.

Second: set others on fire!

Here are suggestions for finding your own business principles: Sell first, write your business plan after. Get in trouble, sell more than you can handle. Take risks and do whatever it takes to make happy customers and clients. Then learn to do it better, spend less time and efforts doing it. Make it an art. Keep learning and improving. In the process, the fire inside of you will become stronger: results are a magic way of increasing your internal fire. Keep getting tiny or big results. Somewhere along the line doubts will disappear and your persistence may make you lucky!

Do you get the point? Create results first, improve your methods second. They don’t teach that at Harvard, do they? Get passionate, get results, get even more excited and then get better at it, not the other way around. Everything will follow nicely because the world loves exciting people with exciting products.
