When a Dream Dies....

We all have dreams:
  • Dreams of writing a book
  • Dreams of being the World Downhill Champion
  • Dreams of losing those extra 100 pounds
  • Dreams of marrying the perfect man/woman without whom life feels meaningless
  • Dreams of starting a family
  • Dreams of starting a company
  • Dreams of being the next Bill Gates
  • Dreams of being wealthy
  • Dreams of being healthy
And so many more.......

Dreaming is a powerful tool. It allows us to escape from reality and build a new world - usually a brighter world.
Dreaming is a creative tool. When we dream, we create new concepts, new killer opportunities, new ways of thinking, etc. . .
But sometimes, even though we put all our heart and soul to a dream, it might not turn out the way we want it to, and it might feel as though our world may collapse.

Our dream is dead when:

  • we come to the conclusion that the book will never be published
  • we feel we are not strong enough to be a World Downhill Champion
  • we realize we have tried 40 diets and still have 100 pounds to lose
  • we get dumped
  • we learn we cannot have children
  • we are simply not an entrepreneur
  • we have more credit cards than dollars in our savings accounts
  • we are sick
There are so many reasons to feel our dream is dead...

Is it the end of the world? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
We have to acknowledge the end of "a" world, of "one" dream world. That's all.
Don't be afraid to grieve a dream.
Cry. Tears are good.
Scream at the top of your lungs. Let the steam get out. Express your despair.
Let go of the negative energy you have cooped up inside.

It may take a few hours, days, weeks or months but I can guarantee that one morning you will wake up and:
- the sky will be blue
- the birds will sing
- you will smile to your neighbor
- you will be ready to start the next big dream, feeling stronger than ever
- you will find that life is a beautiful thing

And do you know why?

Because as my 8-year old son put it last week: "Dreams don't have deadlines, they keep on going if you do the right act". Cute and so true.

Feel free to dream again. Stronger.
Imagine something new. Bigger.
Go back to an old dream but re-think it in a new way. Newer.
Use all this renewed energy and stamina, aim and shooooooooooot!

To your Success!
