Blue Boost
For this drink, you will need a juicer. The search for a juicer took me several months as I tried so many which were leaking, which could not handle more than one juice without needing cleaning, etc… I finally settled on a Breville Juicer (you can put a whole apple directly in the feeder!).
. The Blue Boost will provide plenty of much-needed nutrients and phytochemicals you need daily.
. You will get your daily Vitamin C recommended by the FDA thanks to the apple, and Vitamin A from the strawberries ("carotene").
. Just one serving of blueberries provides as many antioxidants as five servings of carrots, apples, broccoli or squash.
. In fact, USDA studies rank blueberries number one in antioxidant activity compared with 40 other fruits and vegetables.
. Blueberries are particularly concentrated in flavonoid anthocyanin (a potent antioxidant), which is concentrated in the skin and gives blueberries their intense blue-purple color. This natural compound is linked with many health benefits including reducing eyestrain and improving night vision.
Ingredients:
- 1-cup blueberries (wild is better)
- 5 strawberries
- 1 apple
- ½ cup blackberries (can be replaced by more blueberries)
Directions:
Rinse and pat dry all fruits/veggies.
No need to peel (except ginger root), you can put your fruits/veggies directly in the juicer.
Juice and drink right away as antioxidants lose their potency as time passes.
