Savory Red Boost
. For this drink, you will need a juicer. The search for a juicer took us several months, as so many we tried leaked and could not handle more than one juicing without needing to be cleaned, etc… We finally settled on a Breville Juicer (you can put a whole apple directly in the feeder!).. The Savory Red Boost provides several much-needed nutrients and phytochemicals:
. Celery is a good source of vitamin C, which helps support the immune system.
. Tomatoes provide Vitamin C as well as Vitamin K, biotin and B6. Vitamin B6 is indispensable to absorb magnesium properly. Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant found in tomatoes is the "hot" antioxidant of the moment. Fresh tomatoes supply a fair amount of lycopene. But it is in cooked tomatoes and tomato sauce that you will find the highest level of cancer fighting lycopene.
. Carrots are the champions when it comes to Vitamin A (1 cup = 800% of your recommended daily intake) and to Vitamin K (200% of RDA). Additionally, beta-Carotene, a compound found in carrots, helps protect vision, especially night vision.
Ingredients:
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 celery stalk
- 2 small carrots
Directions:
-1- Rinse and pat dry all fruits/veggies. No need to peel, you can put your veggies directly in the juicer.
-2- Juice and drink right away as antioxidants lose their potency as time passes.
Enjoy!
